Fashion Friday: { How to style a long cardi }

Friday, January 15, 2016

We've all been there...the cardigan that makes us look dumpy and frumpy.  This rings more true when you break out the ever-so wonderful long cardi.

They can be tricky and will only work with certain things to certain events so choose wisely what you wear them with or what you wear them to.

Long cardi goals:  Make it look intentionally put together vs. the "thrown together look".  It should add a sense of cohesion to a your look.

TIPS

  •  Take your height into consideration.  You don't want a cardigan that is touching the floor.  Find a good length past your knee and go with it.
  • Pair your cardigan with body forming pieces so you don't look bulky.  The cardigan adds enough flow and bulk that you don't want too much going on.
  • Avoid sweater on sweater materials.  Go for a chambray shirt, cotton or silk.

CASUAL CHIC

The more casual your outfit, means the more important adding accessories on is.  We love this look because the scarf and hat make the outfit stand out more.

WEEKEND WARRIOR

This look is the perfect weekend look for any event.  It's casual yet dressy.  Over the knee boots give it a polished off look.

WORK GIRL WORK

Wearing a long cardi to work your ultimate goal is to look prim.  Fitted slacks and a button up are always a good choice to achieve this look.

Jewelry Guide: { Transitioning from Winter to Spring }

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Pinterest search engines are more than likely flooded with "transitional wardrobe pieces" as of right now, and while that is very important for fashion junkies, sometimes transitional jewelry is over-looked.  Most women think that jewelry and accessories are year round items (and that may apply to some pieces) but like clothes, your pretty little add-ons need to be swapped.  We've put together a little guide as to what winter pieces can be replaced with spring pieces!

1. From statements to subtle
Winter is all about making a statement and bringing attention to those dark colors you are wearing.  This spring go for something more subtle like a choker necklace.  Layering these dainty necklaces is an option for those who just have to have a statement piece (which is not a bad thing).

2. Ban the bling, bring on the color
Holiday parties and cold weather call for all the glitz and glam all the rhinestones in the world can bring, but warmer temps and outside events scream COLOR!  Trade in your sparkles for pops of brights or low key pastels.

3. Black out the oxidizes and depend on delicate
You know those favorite pair of oxidized silver or blackened metal earrings you have ?  Put them in a box and stash them away until next year because delicate pieces are moving in.  We love a good stud stack on our ears, but we know some of you women like to break out the big stuff, which is fine for spring just make sure you have an earthy tone to keep it simple.

Fashion Friday: {2015 Trend Re-Cap}

Friday, January 1, 2016

With 2015 coming to an end, we've been working on what we want to launch for spring/summer 2016 (hard to believe in 30 degree weather...we know) and it got us reminiscing over our favorite trends from 2015.  Fashion is a wonderful world of trends coming and going and even sometimes coming back in style with different twists...and this is why we can't get enough of what will be "in the new."

What was your favorite style from each season in 2015?

Spring- Flare Fanatics
Denim will never go out of style. EVER. And like we were saying, trends can always come back in style.  Our inner 70's hippie love was thrilled to find out flares were going to be the next big thing.

Summer- On Island Time
Florals are usually huge during summer but this year was all about the tropical prints.  Big leafy modern colored prints were all over pants, dresses, rompers, etc.  The ultra chic looks made us feel like it was time for a vacation.

Fall- Color of the Year {Marsala}
Pantone's color of the year was definitely a hit in the fashion world.  The deep wine color was so universal and could work with almost any hair color or skin tone.

Winter- The return of the turtleneck
Another trend that came back into style was the cozy turtleneck.  Why we fell in love with them {again} was all new silhouettes, styles and cuts.  The new modernized sweater could now be worn for style and not just warmth.
